Five Sheep

There is a legend linked to Guangzhou, which says that a long time ago during the reign of the King Yi of Zhou, five immortals came to the city. They rode on five sheep and showed the local people how to grow millet, by which the city got rid of famine. The sheep themselves petrified. Today the sheep stand on the hill in Yuexiu Park as a stone memorial, to remind the people of Guangzhou of the old legend.
