After exiting and climbing to an altitude of 1351 m, stretched on the shores of Strbske lake is fairytale world, which bears the name of the Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras. An the reception desk during check-in, you will surely be delighted to receive a welcome letter from the hotel manager, addressed directly to your name and accompanied with a welcome glass of champagne.
The hotel was opened in 2009 after a five-year reconstruction of the medical building, which is the only one in the High Tatras that has a hundred years of history. In the hotel rooms you often meet up with open fireplaces, where dry wood sings cracking songs, where you can sit and drink a glass of top quality wine, cognac or whiskey. Ask reception to show you the way to the lookout tower, which is located in the hotel complex.

In the Kempinski Hotel they are very well aware that good sleep is an important part of day, therefore, all hotel rooms are equipped not only with quality beds and sheets, but also offer a pillow menu with seven different variants from non-flammable, odor-absorbing pillows up to an exclusive anatomically shaped pillow or anti-allergy pillow in the shape of a cylinder or even a luxurious pillow with cashmere and wool. Also worthy of a try is the massage pillow with cherry seeds or a pillow with a horse mane.
If after their stay, a guest discovers that they have become so accustomed to a pillow during their stay and they don´t want to sleep without it anymore, then the hotel will arrange delivery of the pillow to their home.
After arrival to your room, a bowl of fresh fruit is waiting for you and your kids will love the Kinder surprise eggs, gummy bears and teddy toys. If you are already enrolled in the Global Hotel Alliance programme (GHA Discovery), you are automatically offered a better room, Kempinski welcoming set of in the form of wine, a ceramic bell and a free local tour.
For a small additional cost, you can have a room overlooking the Strbske lake, almost 20 hectares big moraine lake, which for an average of 155 days per year is covered by ice. The hotel also offers a special just honeymoon room with heavenly stairs to the outside (roof) Jacuzzi with a view of stars.
The Grand Hotel Kempinski High Tatras is suitable for families with children and is demonstrated by a children's playground, where they thought of everything you can buy in shops for children. The welcome is also pleasant, where at check-in children have a special step to reach the reception desk so they can receive a glass of juice from the staff. The restaurants offer a special children's menu, child chairs and includes a children's playroom. Parents will also appreciate the children's brand cosmetics and also a bathrobe and slippers. Children will love the walkie-talkie and a cup of milk or cocoa at bedtime.

If you go directly from reception to the restaurant guided by the red carpet, you cannot miss the cartoon image measuring 4x5 metres, which is called ”Seven yellow tulips“ by Julia Haluzova, who won one million Slovak crowns (about 33,333 Euro) for this gigantic painting – it is the most expensive painting sold in Slovakia.
Kempinski offers many different types of wine as well as herbal teas under its own brand.
Not only is it a beautiful picture, but it hides a ladybird (ladybug) and once you find it, you rightly deserve to taste the local, Mediterranean and international cuisine which are offered by the exclusive Grand Restaurant. Fresh fish comes directly from their own lake and the best quality meat comes from local produce. You will also enjoy bakery products and confectionery, which are prepared for you in the hotel kitchen, which has its own bakery and patisserie.
Do you love wine? Then the widest range of wine list in High Tatras at the Grand Hotel Kempinski will surely attract you, you can choose from more than 350 different wines, with a choice of around a hundred French wines. If you prefer cognac or whiskey, then you can choose from 60 different types, if you can´t find your selection from this menu, you have a choice of 65 different cocktails.
In the hotel, you have the oppourtunity to eat or drink a glass of wine on the ground floor Lobby Bar, or you can use the players' lounge in an old English fashion style, which takes the form of a library, where you can enjoy a cigarette with a glass of brandy or whiskey.
